General Internal Medicine Ultrasound (GIMUS) Rounds have been developed to foster further education and mentorship of senior GIM trainees in performance of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). GIM trainees will have the opportunity to learn and teach a focused POCUS topic under the supervision of a local expert, including internal medicine and/or a critical care physicians.
We have selected topics from core competencies from the CIMUS group recommendations (see ref). Further, we hope this initiative spawns other GIM and IM initiatives that advanced bedside US training for future internists at the University of Alberta.
